Have a Aquatic life T5 light fixture with a internal pro-skimmer installed in their tank? The aquatic life mini pro-skimmer I have won't fit with my light fixture. (you figure they would make there own products compatible) Can anyone recommend one that would fit!

I e-mailed Aquatic life prior to buying my fixture, and they said it would fit... But the over flow cup sits to high... I'm a little disappointed. Please any advise would be helpful... I have yet to hear back from aquatic life regarding this issue. Thanks all.

Actually that is an insump skimmer. You need a constant level of water for it run properly. Its not meant for a display

Can't, the fixute is held up with plastic legs on each corner. I was looking into getting the CPR bak pak 2

Im sure you can hang them higher, you just have to get creative

But you might be better off with a HOB skimmer anyway

Honestly, start researching some HOB skimmers. They might work better. I have one in my biocube and every now and then I have to battle this skimmer. People have said Reef Octopus works well. Also I have heard the Eshopps one works well too

Thanks man, I was able to modify my aquatic mini skimmer by adding some air tube to the intake.... This is only going to be temporary, I'm differently looking for a HOB skimmer now.. My only concern is, if I have enough clearance were the skimmer will sit and my light fixture... Here are some pics..

Now, here is how much room I have in the back.. I think I should be ok with the CPR or aquamaxx

I would look into the Octopus BH-100. Awesome little skimmers.

How dows the OTP-1000 compare in size to the MJ-1200? The OTP looks big. I was thinking on getting a BakPak II, but now am on the fence again.

Thanks guys... One more then. Is it kinda point less to have the filtration system that came with the tank still installed if one has a good protein skimmer? I have seen dozens of videos on you tube regarding skimmers etc... Most of the tanks only have a protein skimmer for their filtration, is this standard?

I run a skimmer and a reactor for phosphates thats pretty much it. No other chemical or mechanical media for me.
