I have a 180g 72x24x24 tank with 2 braces. It is an spas tank with 250w MH on each end an a 400 in the middle with 2 vho actinic tubes. It works well to say the least. I'm loving the LED thing and did a DIY 34w system for my fuge which worked out really nice. What I'm interested in is buying or building to replace the 400w MH only and leaving the 2 250's. Couple reasons being;
1 - I need the heat, my tank is cold in the basement.
2 - cost
3 - experimenting is fun and I'm not fully sold on it yet (for sps at least)
There is not alot of excess heat in the hood. I'm wondering if there is any reason not to do this? And does anyone have experience mixing lights like this, I wonder if some systems are more heat resistant than others? Thanks a ton,
