So I am getting a 90 gal bowfront (48L x 18W x 29H)

The system comes with:
48" T5 High output 4 bulb 52w
protein skimmer
wet/dry sump
50lbs LR
90lbs LS

I am wondering if the lighting is going to be enough for some SPS and maybe a clam (toward the top of the tank)

Also, I haven't heard people mentioning anything about wet dry anymore and wonder if there has been some change I am not aware of while I was out of the hobby?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mike

i dont know much about sps since i dont have the lights for them yet but i know some about clams since i was asking the same question as you awhile ago. for clams they like to be in the sand and needs some really good leds or MH lights. anything lower the clam will stress out and die :( on the brighter side you can keep soft corals with t5's. if you can check out vivid aquarium's web site and look at their corals and read the requirements per coral to get a better idea on what needs what.

Hope this helps, i have grown sps successfully in a cube tank, with 4x24watt t5 bulbs.
I think the most important thing is water quality, if your params are perfect, i think the 4x54 watts would be enough lighting.
