Hey guys. I recently got a clam AOA at RAP. Everything was fine up til last night. It was open and everything. This morning checked up on it and it was covered in slime and had nassarius snails on him. Pulled the clam out and it was oozing slime everywhere. Any input will really help thanks!

The clam is probably dying. The slime is not a good sign, and CUCs typically sense that something is dying.

Sorry for your loss. last year after RAP I had got a clown get eaten by a maxi after about 2 days. I called AOA to see what they could do and they offered me the RAP price for a replacement.. Youll probably want to figure out what happened before replacing it but FYI...

What sounds like the clam either had an issue before you bought it or something in you tank is wrong. Not the cuc

Will it probably got stressed or was sickly and died in your tank... the snails are just snacking on the decay. Doubt its parameters as Will's tank is crazy nice.

Age is a great store... maybe explain it to them and see what they might do for you. Sucks though.

Yeah my water should be fairly good. I just ran out of all my test kits, so I need to go get some more kits. but usually just do calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium. I'll hit up AOA and see what they can do for me also. Thanks guys!

What type of clam was it?

yeh probably dying unfortunately. nass can instantly detect dead matter and will all over it instantly. :(

It was a 2-3" maxima. Brownish black with whitish cream markings.

Seen this setup and it isn't the water IMHO

BTW Will and off topic a little but the frags I got from you are doing great and the neon slimer is almost completely encrusted aleady and growing 2 new branches. Thx again
