I am looking to retro fit a couple of 70w HQI metal halides into my odyssea 4 bulb T5 fixture by removing two of the T5's in the center and just using the reflector that is there already. The fixture is a 30" fixture and it's being used on a 20L tank which is only 12" tall. That's the reason I'm looking to go with 70w bulbs instead of 150w bulbs.

Anyway, I found these ballasts on e-bay and i'm not sure if they'll work with double-ended HQI bulbs or not. They're described in the picture as an M98 ballast. I tried a search on here and a google search, but didn't really come up with an answer. Any help would be appreciated. I know that the ballastwise ballasts will work, but they're almost twice the price (which is still cheap, i know).

It looks like a pulse start ballast, but it says medium base, so I'm not sure if it would work for my application. Anyone have any thoughts? Just trying to save a few bucks and I enjoy DIY projects, so if this ballast will work, I'm gonna give the retro fit a try.

I bought 2 for my 70w sunpod and the first one worked well for 2 months. The starter went out so I installed the 2nd one today and didn't work at all.
