For a decent skimmer for that tank size you'll probably want to bump your budget up to about 300...I have a Bubble Magus Nac 7 and it works great. Reef Octopus is a popular brand as well. Both of which are in the 250-300 range.

As foxbody outlined, a BM or an SRO unit would work out great and are the best skimmers you can get for the money IMO.

I'd recommend getting this skimmer if the footprint works in your sump:

***If you can wait PA typically has a Thanksgiving sale and has 10%+ off so you could get that skimmer for ~$250:)

While the NWB are not a bad skimmer they are not as effective as the SROs with the bubble blaster pumps.

And its better to have something than nothing

i no i will get bashed for this but i like the airstone skimmers.i realy dont keep sps and if kept maintained i think they work great and i dont like over skimmed water.my water test just fine to and they are allot cheaper .the other ones are great though.i just think in my own system if it aint broke dont fix it.the airstones just take awile to calibrate but i can get wet or dark dry skim just depends.gl pick what you think is best for youre own system.i keep only a couple of sps and all my tanks are dsb . if you keep full sps i would go with the more effecient ones.i cant comment on them i never owned one and i dont like it when people comment on products or corals they havent ,rules owned ,or just heard from someone else it ruins these websights.but if u need to no how to use a airstone one to top effeciency i can help u with that.

This one is pretty affordable at $220. I used the exact one (RL-125) on my 90g. It comes with the pump and the skim cup is easy to remove, which was important to me. Worked like a champ and pulled tons of nasty skimmate. I now use the bigger version of this skimmer in my 180 and it works great as well.
