Calcium mixing: Part 1 vs Part 2

Would someone help me understand why we mix our calcium to different concentrations, depending on whether we plan to use Recipe 1 or Recipe 2?

Because the point of two part is to dose equal parts and the recipe 2 alkalinity part is only half as strong. Unfortunately you just can't dissolve as much bicarbonate as you can carbonate. It comes out to just about half.

It would be acceptable to use recipe 2 alk part and recipe 1 calcium part, just be sure to dose the calcium part at half the rate of the alk part.
