I have a standard 75G tank(~48x18.5x21.5) mixed reef with a few acans, zoos, chalices, bubble tip anemones, and several SPS acros. My current lights are ok, but would like to upgrade. Right now, I have all of my SPS temporarily placed in the center of my tank so they can be underneath my 4x54 light fixture. I would like to spread them out in my tank and move some near the back side of my aquarium. My guess is that in order to do that I would need a 6 bulb fixture, but I don't want to add too much light for my LPS. I've been told 4 bulbs won't offer the placement options I seek and that 6 bulbs are a lot of light for a 75 and should consider the 6x54 dimmable sunpower so I can lower the intensity to satisfy my LPS corals. Which fixture should I go with...ATI 4x54 or 6x54 Sunpower?

6x54 won't burn your LPS unless it's placed high, always remember to properly acclimate everything to new lighting conditions though!

I say either a 6x54 dimable or a 6x39 sunpower. The 36" fixture should still Light the whole tank and you would have some lower par areas in the sides for your Lps if they are getting too much light.

I have a 6x54 on my 48 x 15 60 gallon and my corals love it. I have it about 9.5" from the water surface, no problems at all. The color options are great with a 6 bulb, it is much better than being limited to four bulbs.

Thanks for the feedback! I think I'm going to go with the 6x54 sunpower.

i have a 6x54 SP on a 90 and it works great even with a few lps/zoa/shrooms near the upper 2/3. if you are really worried you could use a super actinic bulb instead of a blue+ or aquablue bulb to reduce the par but I dont think its necessary but you really do need to acclimate the corals to the added light. Be careful.

just becuase youre going from 4 bulbs to 6 bulbs it may seem like a small jump but if youre previous fixture was from a different manufacturer then its apples and rice pilaf. ATi ballasts are crazy good and the reflectors are top! On the 90 I burnt a frogspawn mad quick because I brought it down too fast.
