Are there benifits of a closed loop instead of power heads. how hard are they to set up. Had to edit since the question didnt make sense sorry

Im a bit confused about "instead of overflow boxes" they are two seperate things. A closed loop can be as simple or complicated as you want it to be

The major benefit is you can make them invisible. However they are a little more work to plan and to service. You also will pay more in power per gallon than you will in something like a vortech.

Yeah, your original question puzzled me a little bit. I use both on my tank. It doesnt really matter as long as you get adequate flow. I actually have a CL, powerheads, and canister filters all built into a rockwall aquascape. The good thing about powerheads is that you can move them when you want to.
