I have a 100g tank, 48L x 24W x 20H, mainly SPS, I'm currently running one Tunze 6065 and two 6045. I felt Tunze’s current is narrow and I don’t see much movement at the bottom.

I'm running shallow sand band, using "Seaflor Special Grade Reef Sand".

Is MP40WES right size for me? One or Two? I searched and saw many different answers. What is your recommendation?

Thanks!

2 unless you plan to keep some of the Tunze pumps in the tank.

I would recommend starting with (1) MP40wES and perhaps adding a second if desired.

Thank you guys for the response. I have another question not quite related to this. A friend of mine has a 36L x 18W x 16H (50g breeder) tank. He was interested in MP20 and maybe two of them. Are they no longer in your production line?

Correct; the VorTech MP20 is no longer in production. It sounds like a single MP40wES or a pair of MP10wES pumps would be a perfect match.

Johnathan, back to my original question, when you said started with one MP40wES, do you mean just MP40wES in the tank or along with my other Tunze pumps?

(1) MP40wES to start with, not including the other pumps mentioned, and possibly a second VorTech if heavy flow is desired for your SPS.

The flow will be unidirectional only with single MP40, right?

Will it be effective exercising all those different modes provided by the controller?

Hi Jonathan, I went ahead and bought 2 MP40WES. In one of the "Switching Power Supply", when I shake it (gently, or just flip it upside down), it sounds like either a nut, a screw or a component is detached inside. The pump does operate. Is it something I need to worry about. I hope it won't short circuit anything and cause damage to the pump.
