algae ID and bangaii cardinal question!

I have a 20G long that has been set up for almost a month now. I believe I started getting a light diatom dusting after 1.5 weeks, but it has just grown thicker, and am not sure what it is now. If anyone would be able to tell me what I have on my hands I woiuld greatly appreciate it!

Also I purchased a Bangaii Card yesterday and attempted to feed her brineshrimp and mysis shrimp tonight, but she didnt want either. Is it just to early for her to eat? or am I trying the wrong foods? any suggestions would be of great help! thank you, and Happy Reefing!

Looks like diatoms to me. My Cardinals eat frozen brine shrimp. They are nocturnal fish, so try a late feeding. JMTC & GL!

Thank you so much! I just wanted to make sure, my pico only got a very light dusting of them, and they did not look like this lol

Glad to help. IME, that's about the only algae (it's not really an algae) that is just best 'ridden out' - such that it will go away in time with no real intervention. If it's not gone in a couple of weeks, or if other types show up, start using your GFO. I don't see any snails in you photos; do you have a clean up crew yet? Welcome to Reef Central and Good Luck!

Not really, I'm going out some time this week to peice together one, I had a couple of small critters in my 5 gal that I brought over. Ive been running chemi-pure elite for 4 days now but it hasn't shown much of a difference.

Oh yea and I forgot to mention I have some GHA popping up in places but I have an army of isopods in a culture tank that love the stuff and 2 other red legged hermits with a taste for it as well hopefully they will keep it under control!

I bought a bunch of nerite and cerith snails once diatomes started appearing in my tank.. got rid of all of it in a hurry.

cool, i just picked up a custom package from reefcleanersdotorg but there was a ix up and i was charged twice, it hasnt been resolved yet but if everything goes ok it should be here by saterday. it has loads of ceriths and nerites!
