What kind of wood glue, and what specifically are you trying to remove it from. Surface, unglue two pieces?

I have had some luck in the past using a heat gun to break down the glue. Once it heats up you can usually use a paint scraper to start prying them apart. Just make sure there are no other fasteners because they will provide too much resistance and negate your efforts.

Cut the glued part out, or buy new wood. If not joined by screws or nails, cut where the glue is, sand the hell out of it, then it should be good.

On any properly glued up boards the glue joint will actually be stronger than the wood itself. If it was good wood, I would say just rip it apart at the glue line. Because it is 2x4's, toss them and try again.

Tite bond II isnt great at holding up to shock. You can get it apart with a sharp blow. (sometimes/depending) I would put it on the ground and put some kind of wedge between the pieced and give the wedge a sharp hit. Start at an end, then move a few inches, working all the way down and you may be able to get it apart. I build guitars with titebond II with the idea that if a bridge needs to come off later for some reason I can get it off that way without hurting anything else.

You can also steam it apart, but thats not terribly practical for this application.

That's a good point, go with that.
