Yesterday I met up with a member in my reef club who was selling a 75 gpd RODI unit. They said it was BRS, but I do not see the logo that says such. I got it set up today and started running water through it and have a few questions. Should I be getting more waste water than clean 0 tds water? There are two valves that are on lines within the unit. One on the black line(waste water), which I assume is to flush it out??? There is another one on the blue line(clean 0 tds water) that if it is open leaves the DI section fairly empty with just enough to cover the bottom of the section. Should the DI section be full or empty? If it is full then there is no clean or waste water coming out which I assume means it is turned off. Also, how much water pressure should I be getting for proper filtration? Here are some pictures of the unit, if anyone has any ideas as to who the manufacturer is please speak! Not sure if this has anything to do with this, but my TDS to start with is hovering around 260.

Water(rejected and completely filtered) Notice how there is more waste water coming out than filtered:

First off slow down .... take a breather .....
To answer your questions
Looks like a BRS unit .The TDS meter on the di unit is a dead give away . It is normal for there to be more waste water than ro/di water . Most have a 5 to 1 ratio . So every one gallon of RO/di u make u dump 5 gallons down the drain . The black line does not flush it goes into a drain .. it is the reject water
It appears to have enough water pressure since it was over 40psi . Make sure you are reading the TDS correctly .It has a switch on it One is the product ro /di water and the other is prolly the reject or before the membrane . Not sure on the second as I use a handheld unit .
U need to find out when all the cartridges were changed . Or u can go by the TDS . If unsure then buy a refill kit and change all the cartridges except the membrane .
If the TDS out of the ro di is reading more than 5 then it needs to be replaced.
My suggestion would be to contact the member so he or she can show you how a ro unit works .

THey told me how to run it, I just thought that the high amount of waste water was unusual. The dual TDS meter with the unit is setup to read before any filtration and after the DI. I just purchased the first three filters yesterday and they are in the unit now. I need new DI resin, but the lfs was out of stock yesterday. I get a reading of 1 TDS after being completely filtered. Thanks for the help!

Ur welcome .
Ur fine on the TDS until the ro;/di starts reading 5 . I would just order the BRS kit . The di should be refillable . Has to be as cheap as the lfs is charging for just the di cartridge . A refill is like 13.00 from BRS for the di .

The member I purchased from said that there is a BRS store in Minnesota, but I have not seen anything on the website about that. The lfs said that the DI is $12-13 or something like that.

Edit: just found it! This means I can order online then pick up what I ordered there and get a shipping rebate upon pick up.
