Well, since you guys at ReefLED seem to know an inordinate amount of information about LEDs let me pose this question to you.
If I were concerned solely with coral growth and not at all about coloration would the use of the CREE WW be better in a DIY fixture than the CW? I understand from THIS (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2072326) and several other threads that BIN number among other considerations are important but as a general question which way should I lean?
I am thinking about a 40BR for a frag tank and would like to grow the corals as quickly as I can in there then let them color up in my display. Please let me know, thank you.

We are most concerned with the most natural and effective lighting for our coral.
Enhancing the the colour pigments is part of the hobby and why we pay extra for some frags vs others.
We simply do not like Warm Whites as they are way too yellow...And the yellow and green do little for growth.
However a couple in the mix to even out the white spectrum do work.
This is part of our "High Noon" philosophy using a Cool White that's not too yellow but a bit warmer in colour temp.
Corals rely on symbiotic algae and nutrients for growth.
The Algae use Chlorophyll A&B

In theory you can use a mix of Royal Blue and Blue to grow coral.
I've seen this with a thriving tank using only 110 watt 420nm VHOs.
That said the Cree Cool White has a very nice 450nm Spike

Growth would be fine with Royal Blue, Cool White or Warm White.
Warmer Colours may promote nuisance algae so we prefer the cooler colour temps as it most simulates 10-30 meters of ocean depth.
For growth without too much yellow our Premium XP-G and XP-E Royal Blue will give you the spectrum. A 1:1 Ratio would be around 10K
