hi everyeone!

i have been keeping nano reefs and a dwarf seahorse tank for about a year.
i am still in high school which means i have to d a science fair project. so i thought, why not do my experiment on something that involves aquariums and could be an excuse to buy more base rocks ;)

so my question was:

how does the amount of rock affect the growth of nitrifying bacteria involved in the nitrogen cycle.
(testing 0lbs, 3lbs, 8lbs, and 15lbs in a 5 gallon tank)

here is where you guys come in:

1) could you guys give me comments on the experiment set up?

2) whats the most accurate and affordable test kit? (for ph, ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite)

3) do you guys have any links relating to the science of cycling and the nitrogen cycle (links on nitrosommonas, niterbacter... etc.)?

help is greatly appreciated and you will of course be acknowledge in the project ;)

thank you everyone!
