That's a soft coral, likely a Sansibia. There's a really nice blue variety that pops up in the trade every so often.

I can vouch for the explosive growth.....I got a rock with it on it about 6 months ago and now I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of it....any suggestions?

Ya most of the time this stuff grows like a weed. But every tank is different. Some people have gsp, xenia, kenya tree that is invasive. Me, i cant keep xenia alive at all. For blue clove removal it is either smothering them with a putty or removing rocks
