I've read 50 different topics on how to feed fish, but there isn't anything consistent other than make sure it's a variety.

I have a YWG, 2 Ocellaris Clowns, a One Spot Foxface, and an emerald crab that I'm trying to keep healthy in my 55g.

Right now I'm feeding them small amounts throughout the day. I thaw a cube of frozen food in a small cup in the morning and feed them probably 5 times throughout the day. I try to only put in as much as they'll eat in 2-3 minutes. They all know what it means when I stand there with that cup.

I have Hikari frozen mysis and I recently picked up a San Fran Bay Brand Multi-Pack that has brine shrimp, squid, marine cuisine, and emerald entree.

I've got nori that I'll cut into 1-1.5" squares and attach to a clip for the Foxface. He tears into it seconds after I put it in. Before long though, I've got pieces of nori floating all around the tank. He's been known to pull the whole thing off the clip. Usually 14 minutes after I put it on the clip, it's gone.

Am I feeding enough nori? The other topics I've read talk about a half sheet of nori a day. That seems like overkill for the one Foxface. But, I'm sure he'd eat it if I put it in there.

Is the one square a day too much? I don't ever see leftovers sitting on the sand or the rocks.

Is there anything else I should add to their diet?

I'm not too familiar with rabbitfish so I could be wrong here, but it seems like you're overfeeding. I've got a scopas tang, clown, coral beauty angel, diamand goby, and 3 bar gobies. A single cube of frozen food is enough to feed all of them with enough left over to feed a few corals.

I've noticed that when my tang is well fed he'll pick at algae the way your foxface does, leaving bits of it floating all over the tank. If I give him his algae chunk in the morning while he's still hungry, however, he'll chase down ever scrap that floats away and there's little mess left behind.

Since your clowns would certainly be ok with it, you may want to try feeding half as much and only once per day. If you feed in the evening, you could try giving the foxface his nori in the morning or afternoon. That'll make sure that he's getting his veggies, and it should make a big difference in the nutrient levels in your tank.

I feed my tank twice a day... the first feeding (around 2 pm) is NLS pellets and formula 2 flakes. The second feeding (around 8:30 pm) is a combo of frozen mysis, angel formula and formula 2.
