Even though i really like 14000K and higher temperature bulbs I currently use 10000K XM moguls for my 40 gallon SPS tank. Anybody else still using 10K lighting and feel like posting some pictures?

Well, I have a combination fixture, 10K MH plus actinic T5's, so I don't know if it counts. Plus, they are 150W DE's, not moguls.

I replaced all my bulbs recently. I bought 14K MH's, but the overall effect was too blue when combined with with the actinic T5's. I really, really, didn't like it, so I decided to spend some more and got 10K MH's. Here are pics of both.

First up, 14K MH plus T5 actinics:

Next, 10K MH plus T5 actinics:

This is the particular coral that best illustrtates why I like the 10K over the 14. 14K makes for better flourescence, but 10k gives more colors. Here in this pic, this Fiji acro is all blue:

Here, under 10K, this same Fiji acro is a rainbow. It has a pinkish skeleton with purple highlights, and green polyps:

I use 10K bulbs but supplement with royal blue LEDs. I think the 10Ks are good for growth of corals that are from shallower water and make yellows and reds color up well. The royal blue LEDs (about 720-750e nm) make the greens and blues pop.

I don't use just straight 10K either, I have 2-22w T5 with actinics but it doesn't do much to change the colour and they are cheap bulbs. Thanks for taking the time to post pics. Nice looking tank, keep up the good work.
