Whats wrong with my Monti?

I had to take it out of my tank for a day for maintenance and the next day this white disease appeared :(

Thanks in advance for your comments

Tissue Necrosis.

Your going to receive this question somewhere, so I will ask, What are your current water Parameters?

Where was the monti while you did the day's worth of maintenance? It looks like it encountered an alk swing and is experiencing RTN (rapid tissue necrosis).

I put my corals on a 40 gal tank while I changed the stand of my tank.

My water parameters are:
Alk: 10.6
Cal: 430
Salinity: 1.023
Nitrates: 0.00
Mag: 1320

My other green Monti did not experience any problems. While I was putting the fish using the net I dropped some sand over the red Monti. I cleaned it as soon as I realized, the next morning that white stuff appeared. What can I do if it got RTN?

Thanks

I just read an article about that sponges release toxins. I had a red sponge, and that day when I moved the corals, by mistake I let the expose to air. I put the sponge to the same 40 gal tank and maybe that is why I got RTN to my Monti?

The white stuff you are seeing is actually the corals skeleton. The tissue is basically dissolving off the skeleton.

The sponge being exposed to the air was not good. You may have just stressed it out bad by moving it.SPS is pretty sensitive that way...

frag a small peice in an area as far away from the white area as possible. There is a good chance you will lose the coral and this may be the only way you can save any part of it. Once that is done try to keep your paramaters as stable as possible without blasing it with light and you might get lucky.

im betting on RTN also...any chance you dropped some salt on it? i know i have dropped salt creep in my tank while cleaning the braces and had it land on some corals and immediately burned them up.

Looks like something got on it or it was stung by another more agressive coral.Keep your parameters in check,& it will make a full recovery.

I agree with mrstihl.
I had the same issue about 3 months ago with my monti. I fragged off a good piece and it has survived and done very well.
