Return pump not working

Came into work (where my tank is) this morning and saw that my return pump is not doing anything. I have a reeflo dart; that when I felt it is extremly hot to the touch, so I unplugged it in hopes that when it cools down maybe it will work again. Anyone have any ideas, or what I should do if it doesnt come back online?

Also, what should I do in the meanwhile since the water movement has been severly diminshed
