repairing a cracked skimmer

My skimmer has a crack around the bottom. Is it possible to repair this using silicone and acrylic cement or would i be better off putting a patch over top of it

What kind of material is it made of?

i assume acrylic. its a reef octopus. I think it is 1/4 inch thick

weldon #16 is probably what you want.

Second on the #16, I've repaired a couple of things with that stuff, it's strong.

Weldon or sim solvent glue for acrylic. Do not use silicon it will just screw it up and make it very hard to make any addition repair if needed.
