I’d like to ask if you think my cutover plans are sound and would eliminate a cycle like you typically have with a new tank. This is not a rush job as there is plenty of lead time before I have my new tank and even then I don’t mind slow steps. So, days and weeks will pass between each step listed below.
Existing 55g display with 10g sump and 125lbs live rock
Drop the 10g sump cutting in a 100g Rubbermaid sump (running half full)
Cure an additional 100+ lbs LR in a separate container
When ready, add LR to the sump
Connect the new 150g to the system adding sufficient fresh warmed water
Move LR to display (I will also add enough sand to cover the bottom for aesthetics and let it settle)
Move livestock (just fish) to the new display
Unhook old display and start converting it to a fuge
