Is there a way to prolong the life of home grown phyto in the fridge? Maybe by adding fresh fertilizer? Or adding something else?

I've got 4 cultures of nano going and I plan on reducing this to 1 when I get my tetra and iso algal disks. With only one of each culture going, it would be nice to keep back-ups in the fridge for if/when they crash.

If not, then how does one make algal disks? They are supposed to last 6 months.

Thanks for any feedback.

This is a good read in general. In one section it talks about how cold green water keeps longer (nothing new there) but also that letting the bottle breathe keeps the phyto viable for a longer period of time.

I always cap my phyto nice and tight.
