Hello everybody,

2 months back i started 25 gallon cube nano reef tank.

Tank Specification :

Water : RO
PH : 8.0
Temp : 78 deg
Nitrates : <10ppm
Phosphates : 0 ppm
Calcium : 450 ppm
No fish yet.

Last Sunday i bought 1 Green Zoanthid but i was not aware of dipping it in freshwater or in 4 drops lugols iodine solution in 1 gallon of water :

Most of the corals are doing as this is my first coral i do not have much idea on them but i see on some corals (4 - 6)have converted some brown mucus type, i mean what are these ? (Here are a couple of pics for your ready reference).

See if it looks like my pic. I don't see the brown covered polyps in your pic, but the ones that are open are very nice. I was able to stop mine from getting the brown mucuc by cutting out all infected polyps and any that were near an infected polyp. It took a week or two of cutting more and more polyps out before I was able to stop it from spreading.

THanks, i just washed my zoa with freshwater stabilizing ph and temp. tonight. Lots of brown mucus like stuff started falling but still a couple of them are attached. I will do more with lugol,s iodine dip with saltwater. I have a nursing home, so i got lugol's iodine from my pathology lab:). I hope i can use this one. 1 gallon of saltwater with 4 drops of lugol's iodine solution.

That might work. If they don't turn around quickly, watch out because that brown slime will spread fast across the colony.

could be a bacterial outbreak on them, and if left could smother them. youre doing the right thing with lugols dips
