I was very graciously given this specimen for free from a fellow local reefer, and I am certainly not complaining.
It was given to me as Galaxea, but I'm not convinced that it is. It's stony and encrusting, but doesn't Galaxea have clusters of tendrils or "fingers"? This has a spiny appearance, but it's almost flat to the rock with nothing really extending upward much.

It's very superficially similar to those, but the quality/texture just isn't quite right. I'm sorry the photo isn't the greatest.
It's encrusting. The shape is pretty much exactly the shape of the rock beneath it.

Is it maybe some species of Leptastrea?
Maybe try to get a better pic...

It could be a meralina? Sorry about the spelling.

Kinda looks like Pavona.
Didn't see the stony/Galaxia bit---it *could* be...but not sure of scale or structure. You do correctly to start it low in the tank and low light unless you can match the bulbs/height-from-bottom of the donor. Raise it slowly: imitate the parameters in my sig line and it will do fine.
