I have this thing in my tank... I have been trying to get a picture of it for months now to show you guys, but havent been able to... its not a bristle worm i have those and this is much different.. it first made a tunnel out of substrate then moved to a hole in the rocks... it looks like a little millipede its orangeish with a white horizontal stripe below its head... it is def light and movement sensitive, and retreats back into its hole at the slightest excitement. Anyone know what this is, and if its ok for the tank.. it doesnt seem to be bothering anything, its prob 4 inches long now, and seems to pick at the rocks.

And the name of the thing just vanished from my head. They're harmless, though. They look kind of freaky, but are fun to watch at night. That's also what's throwing out those spiderweb looking things you see in your tank from time to time. I'm sure someone will respond with the actual name of the animal soon enough. They're pretty common hitchhikers.

spaghetti worm???
a picture would help, but from the description that would be my guess. Harmless
Take a look at the sticky at the top on ID: there is a pic of a spaghetti worm and a eunicid and a bristleworm.

nope sorry guys none of those things, I have a few spagetti worms, and bristle worms...no eunicids... Ill keep trying to get a picture, but the problem is he only comes out at night and hes really sensitive... I think id need to get like a red light or something? it is really thin, i could prob draw a good picture. But its none of those things you guys suggested.

The "spiderweb thing" is a vermetid snail. They don't move in and out of rocks or through sand.
redddogg has a good point, I think we were all assuming worm though you never said worm (just centipede). Is it a worm? If not, take a look around the rest of Chuck's Addiction.

Yeah, I was definitely thinking of something else. Sounds like it may be alien. Be sure not to feed it after midnight.

I would say that first picture from chucks addiction under Eunicids looks a lot like it! the "bristles" on the side of him are his legs tho I think because he uses them to move. Thanks for asking if it was an amphipod I looked those up I def have a bunch of those they come out about when the light turns off and skurry in and out of the rocks. So I guess from doing a little reading these are both ok to leave in the tank? (not that I think I have any chance of effectivly removing them)

They're not legs, but they do help it move. I personally wouldn't leave a Eunicid in my tank. Amphipods are usually fine. I had a Eunicid exactly like the first one on Chuck's that was sold to me as a medusa worm (which is really a type of cucumber). Had a lot of snail deaths after that and looking back with what I know now, now I know why LOL.

If it has brushlike tufts, it's not a Eunicid.

That describes peanut worms to a T. And they're harmless.

sounds like a tiny mantis shrimp! Mine was so tiny, it came on some live rock. It would peek up and when anyone came close to the tank dart backwards back in it's hidey hole. At first I thought it was cute! so tiny, like a grain of cooked rice. It was tan or light brown. After I found out what it was, I killed him. I feel bad now, but as a beginner reefer, when everyone told me to kill it, I did. I wish now I would have just put him in a quarantine tank and let him live. That was 7 years ago, I wouldn't do that now. The only living thing I can kill with no remorse what so ever now are spiders, and aiptasia!

I don't believe this to be accurate. The sarlacc is a larger variety than the tremors graboid. I'm unfamiliar with the beetlejuice species, however.

No can do on the picture its soo skiddish, but I think its harmless I only ever see it picking detritus off the rock around its hole, its sometimes makes like a little tunnel with the substrate like he builds it. Ive never seen him bother anything and everything in my tank is thriving so Im not too concerned but I looked at pictures and he looks exactly like this: http://www.kidsbiology.com/animals-for-children.php?animal=Palolo%20Worm
