In a 75g sps packed reef. Would you rather have 4 mp10s running at higher speeds, or 2 mp 40s running at about half speed so as not to kill the dense sps close to the pump. All on your choice of setting, I prefer random.

2x mp40

Unless the acro is right in front of the pump (3 inches) it won't kill anything.

I prefer the pumps on lagoon.

yeah I like lagoon too. I suppose the wide flow from an mp 40 is better than 2 mp10s on each side?

I was thinking more along the lines of "less is more" in terms of numbers of pumps

Let's say that I can get 2 mp10s for less than 1 mp40 and I don't mind the difference of the look of 2 versus 1 on each side. Now what would you choose?

Are you putting them on the sides or on the back glass?

Probably the mp10s as long as they are the wireless versions.

let's say they are not wireless and on the sides and not the back. all full random lagoon mode is what I am thinking.

If your going to have that many pumps, you should get wireless IMO.

I tried 2 mp40's on my 90g and just could not get the flow the way I wanted it, I switched to 4 mp10's and I am very please. I would also suggest to go wireless, gives you more options

Problem with not going wireless with 4 pumps is that the tank ends up having a pretty constant flow of about 50% of their capability. Might as well get two and leave them on 100%.

With wireless they all ramp up at the same time giving you tons of flow.

I would say 4 mp10s. While we r on the subject. I am about to move to a 60 gallon cube setup. I have 2 mp10 wireless. Would you suggest I put them across from each other or on the back wall? I have them across from each other on my current 60.
