Aviad,
Thought I would post this question for you:
I have been in the hobby for about 30 years and have used Salifert test kits for years and was pretty happy with them.
I purchase the Red Se Pro Reef Foundations test kit and it's really nice! As a matter of fact I love it!
I believe the calcium test kit to be more accurate then the Salifert, as I have a SPS Pink Lemonade coral that stops polyp extension at a calcium level of 380-390 with the Salifert kit.
The Red Sea kits reads about 10-20 ppm lower then the Salifert kit consistently. Depending on how many drops I feel like adding.....lol.
This I believe tells me the Red Sea Calcium test kit is more accurate. And it will keep me in the correct range easier too without me falling out a bit too low!
My tank is a ULNS 34 gallon nano sps reef. With small water volumes like this it gets very touchy at times!
MY QUESTION TO YOU IS THIS: DID YOU GET CONSISTENTLY LOWER READINGS WITH THE RED SEA PRO TESTS WHEN COMPARING THEM TO THE SALIFERT??
Thank you and good job Red Sea! I love your salt too.....

Hello my friend and thank you for the warm words.
I don't deal with comparisons with other test kits.
What we, at Red Sea's R&D department, do compare our test kit against is lab. grade standards.
Lab grade standards are very accurate with the amount of ppm of each element, and that’s the way to test any kit’s accuracy.

For instance you can have 5 kits giving you 5 different results, it does not say any of them is right on the spot.
Once you have a good, reliable, reference solution, that you can trust, you can relate to the result you got.
That’s the way to do it.
The best of luck,
Aviad
