Clam or mussel like hitch hiker I.d.

Ive had this pice of rock for a long time but just noticed these two mussel like things growing on it. They are black and have small white and tan dots on them. Any idea on what they are?

I showed a picture to my lfs guy and he said they are harmless mussles

Wow must be common I have one on my clam as well.....looks exactly like it....

I can't tell for sure from the pics, but at least one of them looks like a Date Mussel (probably Lithophaga species). They bore into dead coral/wood/clay, but don't do much else other than filter feed. The other one may be an Ark Clam, but hard to tell from the small pic end view.
