So I have an idea of having one of those super cool little "reef" (as in a couple pounds of rock and a handful of corals) tank and I have a friend giving away a 5.5 gallon. Let me know what you think!

Tank:
5.5 Gallon AGA
Tetra Whisper EX20 Powerfilter
-110 gph
Tetra 50 watt Glass Heater, Preset to 78°, ±2
(I also have an Aqueon 50 watt Adjustable glass heater that I may be
tempted to use if necessary.)
Hagen AquaClear Model 80 Powerhead
-80 gph
Current USA 18" Nova Extreme T5HO x2 20w (10,000K/460NM)
Current USA True Lumen LED x3 453NM

Livestock:
x1 Goby (Possibly S. dracula; L. dalli; A. guttata or A. randalli)
x2 Snails (T. fluctuosa or Astrea sp.)
x2 Scarlet Hermit Crabs (P. cadenati)
x1 Cleaner Shrimp (L. debelius or L. amboinensis)

Corals:
Bubble Coral
Acropora
Zooanthids
Dendronephtya
Frogspawn
Birdsnest

Additional:
I'm choosing a filter over a protein skimmer for the fact that I already have the filter sitting, but also because there is not a small enough skimmer for that size tank that's in my price range. I'm attempting to get everything, including rock and sand, for under $250 because I already have the filter, heater and tank.
I'll be running the lights on timers, the LED's coming on 30 minutes before the T5 shuts off and turning off 30 minutes after the T5 comes on in the morning.

Questions:
Could I possibly have a serpent or brittle star in a tank so small? They really fascinate me, but if not, my next build is going to be a 38 gallon mini-reef that I'm sure I could put one in.
Could I have a clam? Even if I bought it small, do they grow slow enough that it could be in a small tank such as mine and be transferred to a bigger tank in a 6-18 months (depending on growth)?
Do I have too much coral? They would all be bought as frags, however I do realize that they will grow. That list is everything I would like, but if I have to give something up, I can. If nobody says no, though... ; )

Any comments, questions, concerns, etc... would be greatly appreciated, especially from those with experience in nano-tanks (i.e. smaller than 10 gallons)
Thanks in advance!

I have to apologize, but I thought of more:
Has anybody had experience with a Red Spotted Goby (T. rubromaculatis)? Drs. Foster & Smith says the adult size is 1" which would mean that I could hopefully put a pair in there? Is there a possibility of having a mated pair in there?

I also read on another forum that the #1 book to buy is The New Marine Aquarium?

Thanks again!
