I have been fighting a mild case of Cyano and hair algae issue and decided to try Vodka dosing. I was hoping to lower my nitrates and phosphates to kill off my stubborn algae and bacteria. Unfortunately I misread the instructions for how many ml I needed to start with instead of starting with .3 ml I started with 1.5ml and increased this to 3ml after 3 days. After realizing my mistake and losing my Algae Blenny, and some burning on my chalices I immediately did a 10% water change and hooked up my ozone machine. Is there any other things I need to do to stop everything from crashing? My other fish seem to be doing well and my clam, and other corals are looking good.

How big is the tank we are talking about?

Use vinegar in the future. I would wait out the over dose now.

+1 on vinegar. It has a compound corals can use as opposed to vodka which causes cyano outbreaks and other bacterial blooms, not to mention it is very easy to overdose without some guidance. Final dosage of vinegar is about 1ml/g, however I would wait until everything bounces back from the vodka dose, perhaps do another waterchange?

If you have decent aeration, I doubt the vodka caused the problem with the blenny.

Cyano can actually grow faster with carbon dosing, you need to suck it all up with a turkey baster if you want to use carbon.

Did you get a diatom bloom? Thats one of the signs of od. Either way if anything looks weird stop wait a while as it can kill everything in your tank and we dont have test kits for what youre adding.
