Hi all, I have a kalk question. I usually mix 1 tsp of kalk per gallon of rodi to place in a 13g tall kitchen trash pail w/lid. I dump approx 10 gallons at a time, then mix the appropriate amount of kalk in a one gallon pitcher with rodi, then pour that in the 13g can. What I need to know is what the effect of the sediment in the bottom of the can has to the overall concentration. I have a layer of egg crate, which holds the pump about 3 inches off the bottom of the pail. When I pour rodi in the pail, it stirs up the sediment, but just what will be in suspension with the water. I want to do this right, your advice is much appreciated.

The sediment likely is mostly calcium carbonate. Since you're adding only 1 tsp per gallon, there's likely no lime left over after mixing. When you add more water, the sediment should accumulate at the bottom again.

I clean min out every month or so. You dont want the stuff in the bottom of the top off bucket to get in the tank.
