Got the sump all finished, does it matter if the baffles are water tight? If its not water tight will both chambers evaporate?

Going to run a 8x80w sunpower from reefgeek.com. I used to run mh/t5 combo on my old tank but cost of electricity, bulb replacement, heat, and i didnt want to have a canopy made my decision to run t5. Plus i have seen alot of t5 bulb combos the make corals pop so hard!

Now that you mention it, i think i am running a bean animal style overflow. One full siphon, one to alow water and air, and a third for emergency. I even zip tied the air line from the second drain low enough so if theres a problem it will become full siphon.

Thanks, I decided yesterday to pull it out and do it rite. Was yours on a 180g dt? What size return pump did you use, or roughly how much water do you send through the sump?

ktg113

Yes 180 DT I have a little giant 4 on the return like 1300 gph and 2500 gph closed loop

Cool idea on hiding the return pipe!

I too have been hiding in the corners checking out what other people are doing. Now you have your very own "reef stalker" :lolspin:

Just came up with the idea to do my own peninsula 2 weeks ago. Now I have to get my husband on board with this.

Keep posting pictures!

Hi, I thought the bottom of those tanks are tempered glass. How can you drill it?

I had three holes drilled when i bought it, they did such a crappy job i knew it wasnt from manufacturer so i took my chances! It was built back in 1997 i dont know if that makes a difference.

Coralline is starting to grow tanks about 6 weeks old! All corals got kind of pale not sure if they got bleached or low nutrient levels, going to try some aminos if colors don't return in about a month!

Thanks! Me too they are my favorite fish, the females add great color to the tank, and within one hour of being introduced they were very active. They all eat cyclopeeze, picking at mysis, and one female ate a couple nls pellets! Not bad for day 1, tommorrow im picking up some live brine and will mix with frozen mysis!

I love it it is dead silent and pull some serious air! But its very sensitive to food and water changes, the foam head gets knocked down after either! Never had a big skimmer so dont know how common this is!

I use yellow fiberglass driveway markers from lowes a long masonery bit (did not use the hammer on drill) after i got it close i started using jb waterweld (also from lowes) to get rocks to stay in the angles and exact positions i wanted them! Having some really heavy pieces lets you haves more rock off the bottom and up higher! My goal was to have lots of overhangs and places up high for those light hungry sticks!!!

ok so little lost on how you did the rock work? you drill holes in the rock and use the yellow marker things to hold the rocks in place and then use that jb waterweld to make them permanent? was the jb stuff the putty or a liquid thing?

Putty Nd I only used it when I wanted rocks to stay at a certain angle or position!
