QT for Yasha Goby and pistol shrimp

Planning to pick up a pistol shrimp and Yasha Goby pair.

Can/Should they be QTd together in a tank without substrate?

Same procedure as any other fish?

I believe they need substrate. I also think gobys have smooth skin, i think it helps them fight off parasites/not let them attach

Thanks for the feedback - So would the recommendation be to drip acclimate and put them right into the DT?

FWIW...The tank is new. I have a small CUC in it and a cardinal in QT for another couple of weeks. The plan was to get the goby and shrimp after the cardinal is moved. The reason I bring this up is that there is not a huge amount of livestock in the tank that could stress the goby/shrimp.

I don't believe you need to qt the Yasha gobie. The qt process would most likely kill the shrimp is you are using hyposalinity or copper based products in any treatment.

Don't run hypo or copper in QT as a precautionary..

You should QT the goby. Just put some sand in. Otherwise you could put the pistol directly in the DT and QT the goby with PVC pipes being abundant for it to hide in. I personally would QT the goby, it could be the one thing that you skip QT for and be the one thing that lets parisites reproduce in your DT.

You could put some sand/substrate in a wide, but shallow, container (like a Tupperware container). Put it at the bottom of the tank, and then keep them together in the QT. Afterwards, you could remove the container with the substrate.
