Setting up a 30"x30"x30" glass cube.

I put 1" foam underneath, but I think it might be too much. What is the generally recommended foam thickness Any input appreciated.

1/2" foam is what most people use. I have it under my 600g tank too.

Does the bottom of your tank have a rim/brace/floating glass? In case you haven't, I'd also check with the tank manufacturer in regards to foam/plywood under the tank, before you add any foam.

Tank was made by a LFS out of business.

Plastic rim all around the bottom.

If the tank is trimmed, then there is no need for foam, as the foam will do nothing to correct for a stand that is not planar.

+1 Thats what I get for assuming that it didnt have trim on it.

Took the foam out.

Filled with water for a water test and found this.

It is hard for me to tell because of the angle of the photo.
If I had to guess I would say either 1 of 2 things
* cuts in the glass ( from the inside )
* air bubbles in the silicone.
Of course i have been wrong...from time to time

Made a video. Might be more clear.

Do either of these make it a no go? Very unnerving.

Looks to be air bubbles in the silicone but it doesn't look too bad. I would not worry too much about it. If it was a really tall and long tank I maybe would re-silicone the joint but with the tank dimensions you have you should be fine.

A couple more pics. It looks completely white to me. Not so much like air bubbles.
