Hi,
This Gorgonian has been in a friends tank for 4-5 months. tank is a reef with minimal feeding of reef pearls. Any idea on it's ID? Is it photosynthetic which explains it making it so far is minimal spot feeding helping it? Any recommendation on what and how much to feed it?
Thanks

I think it is a Diodogorgia (sp?). I've always heard they are nps. I have one, too. Its beautiful!

Coral pictured above is not Diodogorgia. It is structured differently and have never seen a Diodogorgia (coming out of the Caribbean) with blue polyps. Now similar gorgonians have come to the US from Australia and come in as "Blue Menella sp. or Australian Blue Menella sp." Not saying that is even ID correctly. To view a similar coral available right now, CherryCorals.com has one listed one in their "NPS" coral section.

Thanks for the info. this coral did not comeout of the Carribean as it was bought in Dubai UAE so most robably came from Indonesia...

I would also say a Menella sp also just by the growth structure and polyp look. I would have to see a better picture, with more light. It is a cool picture but not easy to id from it.
