So I think I've made the decision to move away from an LED fixture and go with a halide/t5 combo.

My tank is a 95g wave, 48 long, 24/16 wide, 24 deep. I plan to keep mostly lps with a few sps as well.

What I am looking at are dual 250w halides, plus either 2 or 4 T5s. I am not certain if my tank needs 4 vs 2 on the T5. Any thoughts?

Here are a few fixtures I am considering-

I did the same thing, went from Sol Blues to Giesemann Infinity. Colors just aren't the same as with T5/Halides.

I haven't looked at the Current ones yet. How is the reflector in those things?

I had an Orbit for YEARS, and I bought mine used, and it got cosmetically damagade in shipping. I am looking for another one now for a small tank. I swear by those! I was pleased..very pleased

It looks like current no longer makes a 2x250 + 4 t5 fixture. Bummer.

You'll find a used one. As more folks move to LED they pop up often

The maristar is a nice unit and reasonable. But if your going mainly lps I would look at 150's instead of the 250's. 2 t5s would be more then enough too.

You think 150s can handle the 24" depth?

you might want to look for a used aquactinics fixture as well. they used some of the best reflectors for t5s

Yes. Are you planning on having sps on the sand bed? If so go with the 250's. Otherwise the 150's will work.

Get a used sfiligoi. They are amazing fixtures and built to last. They are expensive but you can get a used one for a good price. Plus you'll never have to replace it.

I can't get used squat in my area. :(

LFS are few and far between here and the hobby base is very thin. More than likely, anything I buy will have to be new.

I am in your area and I have a giesemann spectra 48" for sale.
I don't know what budget you are looking at but it is all the light you will ever need.

4t5s on for 8-10 hours and halides on for 4 will be perfect for color and electricity savings.

Oddly enough, I did manage to find a really nice Giesseman setup in my area.

+1 on the Hamilton Cebu Sun.

I have the 2X250 MH and 4X39W T5, 36" fixture. Good unit.
