History
Pacific Sun began developing Aquarium LED technology and lighting systems more than 10 years ago. The focus was research and the propagation of marine, reef animals. For many years Pacific Sun was the only company engineering, developing and testing their lighting products on their own coral propagation tanks. Pacific Sun rose up from people who are truly dedicated to the Reef Aquarium hobby and industry and their passion for the sustainable culture of reef building animals. Pacific Sun is not a giant aquarium product manufacturer that picked up on the reef LED trend or a commercial lighting company that put together “Reef Aquarium LEDs” in the past year. They focus on one thing: building the best Reef LED lamps in the world…and they continue to lead the way 10 years later.
The first production model “Black Python” lamp was put on the market in 2009. It was well received and took Honorable mention for Product of the Year, Reef Builder Choice Awards. Since then, Pacific Sun has been developing the technology they pioneered and now has available the most complete, high-end reef lighting product line available in the world. Their products are constantly being advanced and their research leads the way in the Reef LED Lighting industry.
Current Products
All Pacific Sun Lighting Systems are built in Poland, to order. They are fully customizable and upgradable. All units are made with high grade, powder coated stainless steel housing, the most advanced, current CREE LED chips, built-in (fully digital) computer drivers, wireless (Bluetooth) connectivity, controllable cooling fans, digital readout screens (software version, % power, etc.), manual overrides, the highest quality internal components available and a suite of technology only available from Pacific Sun.
Pacific Sun lamps give you full control over output (0-100%) on independent color channels (hyperion), color temperature (13,000K-23,000K), date and time, sunrise-sunset simulation, moonlight and moon phase simulation, full PAR value control (40 programmable points/day) and advanced weather simulation such as rain, cloud cover and even lighting storm activity. All this is possible with Pacific Sun’s advanced software that runs on Windows PC, android platform and the X-screen controller (see below). Lamps are also compatible with the GHL Profilux controller and other similar divices. All lamps have available steel, adjustable hanging kits as well as on-tank mounting hardware (Spyder mount) for installation on any reef system.
Focused optics are not used on production lamps from Pacific Sun. Although their lamps have the most powerful, brightest CREE LEDs available, without optics Pacific Sun lamps produce pure, unaltered light energy that penetrates the water and is delivered to corals naturally, evenly and efficiently. Because no highly focused lenses are needed, Pacific Sun lamps cover more surface area and water depth per LED panel than any other manufacturer without “spotting” and the risk of “burning” corals. Custom optics are available through Pacific Sun for specialty applications (very deep tanks), although, for most reef systems lenses are not necessary.
