I was looking for a suggestion on proper lighting for plate montipora. It seems like the less light I give them the better the color.

Any input ?

I have one about mid level in the tank a little closer to the edge and away from the light growing at a fairly nice pace. Not to mention most of the day my yellow leather decides it wants the same light the monti would get, so it pretty much completely shades it.

orange, red, maroon, light green do well in moderate light

purple, cream, yellow, dark green do better in high light

cream, yellow might turn brown if given insufficient lighting

cheers

I have mine high up on the rocks in between 2 150W 10K MH lights, with T5 actinic supplements. I don't have a par meter, but I'd say medium to high range light.

Red under t5 works for me, quite a bit lower in the tank too.

Im a bit confused. One of my montipora is the same as palting's red but when I put it at the same level as my birds nest it started to lose color. I dont know what the par is there but the birds nest is a neon green and growing nicely. So its happy.

My dark green montipora was starting to turn green again at the level where my candy cane corals are happy but when I moved it up to the level of the birds nest it turned brown again.

The cream with blue polyps seems to be happy anywhere.

My lights are leds, half 5500 k white and half 455 nm blue.

does this make sense to anyone?
