is there a way to search for local adds for selling or trading stuff?

If your new you can go see if there is a local club in your area, contact them. Someone in the club should have something you need for sale, or knows a guy that knows a guy type thing.

There is also a classified section here, but it requires you to be a member for 90 days and have made at least 50 (meaningful) posts.
