Prompt please, I have a micro temperature sensor - 2 sq. mm (area of contact with water), made of 316SS (stainless steel), can I use it in a reef aquarium?

Long answer made short, nope. 316 SS will not stand up to salt water for very long at all. The 316 will corrode quite quicky.

No problem,
In a very general sense most metals are a bad idea with salt water. The Cl ions are extremely reactive and will cause pitted corrosion quickly.

Seal the thing up in a big gob of silicone.
