I came home to see 2 blue leg hermits eating me Chalice coral. What's going on

Blue legs are mean. But never heard of blue legs eating healthy coral. But I have seen them agitate the crap out of them

Without additional info I would guess:

- Something was growing on the coral (e.g. algae) and it attracted the crabs, which damaged the coral in the process.

- The crabs aren't getting enough food and are incredibly desperate.

- The coral failed for other reasons (rapid infection onset, serious physical damage, nuked by chemicals released from other Cnidarians or sweepers, etc.) and the crabs are just being good scavengers. Even if the coral tissue "looks" healthy at a glance, it isn't necessarily. Putting a sample under a microscope can tell a very different story sometimes.

EDIT: meant to say "guess one of the following." I didn't meant all three cases at once.
