I have a 150 FOWLR with the following fish:

6" Procupine Puffer
4" Niger Trigger
6" Banana Wrasse
6" Red Breasted Wrasse
24" Snowflake Eel
3" Coral Beauty Angel

Right now I feed Prosalt Carnivore Supreme Mix and add in prawns and myisis.

The Prosalt Mix includes Chunky Pieces of Clams, Squid, Shrimp, Krill, Lance Fish, and Scallops.

IS this a good enough diet?

Would I be better going to the local grocery fresh fish food section and buying some stuff instead of the Prosalt mix? If so, what should I ask for?

thanks,

Mike

It will be cheaper if you buy the food from the grocery and mix it up yourself.

Really it would be the same stuff. If you buy it fresh freeze it before you feed your fish. I think you could probably add in some NLS pellets to your feeding regimen - most of your fish would eat them and benefit from them.

Thanks. What type of clams and other things do I ask for. I am not a big seafood person so not familiar with much other than shrimp.

Thanks.

We use SW fish flesh (salmon, snapper, tuna, mahi, anchovy, smelt, swordfish, shark), shrimp, squid, clams (type is really unimportant), scallops, lobster, etc.

You can usually find 5 oz pieces of fish on sale ($3-$5), and getting stuff on sale is the way to go. You can also find cheap petite lobster tails for $5 ea sometimes. You'll want to see what your fish like and build your regimen around that.

Another thought is sometimes you can ask for "trimmings" which you can often get for free once your seafood counter staff gets to know you.

If they look at you funny when you ask for "one shrimp", "two clams", etc. just tell them it's to feed your fish...that often gets them more interested. I've even had peeps ask how the fish are doing...
