I've been debating cleaning the side panels of my tank. My tank shares a wall with the back of my couch. While watching tv all I have to do is turn my head to the right and look right into the side of my tank.

I've only been using the mag float on the front but was wondering if I should do the side too.

I like to let stuff grow. Its personal taste i guess.

Heck, I even clean the back glass. I don't like the wall o' coralline look.

I clean everything I can see, except the corners of silicone where the mag-float doesn't reach. But then again, it's all about taste.
Maybe I should only clean one side and see what happens.

I figured it was good for the snails to leave the sides dirty.

If you can look through them, then I'd keep them clean.

It's all personal taste. But if u let the back wall get coralline you can glue gsp to it and let that cover the back wall

I tried letting the back wall grow over with whatever it wanted, claiming I was going for the natural look and not being lazy. I finally cleaned the back wall... and wow! Does my tank look bigger.

If I was looking through it all the time I would clean it. In my case I am not so the side are fully grown over.

Being able to look at the tank close-up while not getting off the couch; yeah, I'd clean the side too.

I clean all 4 panels of glass. No coralline on the glass, no green algae on the glass, no film on the glass and guess what, you end up not noticing the tank at all, but instead you see everything inside the tank.

Of course you should clean the side of the tank. Do you want a clean tank or a trashy dirty looking system?
