View Full Version : Noise in Sump...

Okay, fixed the noise in the overflow with a Hofer Gurgle Buster, now the sump.
There's a huge amount of bubbles and water entering the inlet chamber of my sump.
The water action reminds me of a fountain at the mall!
This is my first sump, so I'm not sure how far under water the inlet tube should go. Also, I've read something about a reverse durso for in the sump...
Can someone explain/show me how this works.
DIAGRAMS ARE GOOD! I can build almost anything, so I'm not worried about that. It's just the water and splashing down below is crazy. The water bubbles and jumps around. WAY too much water action there.
Thanks!

This thread has a diagram that I used... Basically you add an elbow to the drain around the waterline in your sump, and then have the elbow run into a 'T' fitting. The water runs to the T and the water flows down into the sump while the air is able to go up and not all forced into the sump. And the bigger the pipes after the elbow, the better. I started with a 1 inch drain to 1 and 1/4 reverse durso, and it wasn't enough so I expanded to 2 inch. hopefully that was clear...
