I am building some leds lights for my LFS and need to find some heatsinks that are around 4"x4" or so, going to have 3 leds per heatsink so they can be smaller. well looking for 9 of them. If anyone has a lead on where to find them that would be great. I found some on ebay that were 99cents but they didnt offer multiple qty on the auction.

Thanks

Why not U-channel? Cheap, effective, and available.

Some scrap metal places will sell their scrap to you real cheap compared to buying extrusions.

For my build I used 1/8 x 1 1/2 x 5 channel that had a snap on cover for the frame (free from work). Then purchased 1/8 x 1/2 x 1 channel and 1/8 plate at a location called Metal Supermarkets. Their 1/8" channel was cheaper than home Depot's 1/16". Plus with the thicker channel, I do not need to run fans to dissipate the heat generated by the LEDs.

i bought a piece of scrap aluminum plate from a metal yard...(still had protective paper on each side of it though) i have 13 HP cree 3W leds mounted to a piece of it that is only 7.5" diameter, the plate is 1/8" thick...i have no heat issue however i choose to run a fan on it anyway...all my leds are at 700mA or less though too...

If you are looking for a decent U channel supplier look up glasswarepro on that online auction site. Got some nice deals!

I'm not sure what your definition of cheap is, but I bought my heatsink from heatsinkusa.com
