I received a 100mm Nikon Micro VR lens for Christmas. I noticed that when I take photos with the VR setting on, the lens makes a click noise when I slightly press the camera's button and then repeats the noise after fully depressing the button. While I have 24mm - 120mm Nikon lens with VR, this lens does not make the clicking noise. Does any one have this lens and is it normal for this action to take place? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Do you have it on auto focus?

Yes, the Nikon 105 VR does make a noise. It's the mechanical design of the VR system. Though you really shouldn't be using the VR for shooting macros. I use it only when using the lens as a telephoto lens. Normally also use manual focus for macros also.

I haven't shot any real photos yet. I was just toying with the lens to accustom myself to the lens and that was something I noticed. Thanks for the help and I look forward to getting some photos up soon. :)
