Hi everyone, I have been battling what seems to be a bacterial bloom for two weeks now and i've tried everything from water changes to light cycle reduction and now i am starting to think that it's not bacteria but what looks like white hair algae? tank is 4 months old. Idk i would love any advice!! Thanks.

My tank specs are: 75 gallons total volume, salinity at 1.025, nitrates 0 ppm, nitrites 0 ppm, PH 8.1, ammonia at 0 ppm, Phosphates at 0.2 ppm, calcium at 440 ppm, don't test for magnesium.

Its kind of hard to tell, but its defiantly an algae of some type.
your phosphates are a little high. The acceptable level for reef tanks is around .03 ppm.

How much are you feeding?
How often are you doing water changes, and how much at a time?
Are you running GFO?

I don't have any fish in the tank at the moment, just some zoas and lps corals so i barely feed anything. I am running a dual GFO/ Carbon reactor from brs and i do 5 gallon water changes every week which is about 7.8% wc per week.

Maybe try to bring up your water changes to 10g a week, and siphon off the rocks when you change water.

How often do you change your GFO?
How much flow is the GFO getting? It should be tumbling in the reactor.

The other thing to make sure is that you are using RO water for your changes and make sure that you are using a salt mix that is good.
