So a friend that owns a local aquarium maintenance business
gave me a slightly used geo 618 calcium reactor from a tank
he had to break down. I am currently in a new 325 gallon build.
With sump and frag tank will be more like 400 gallon total.
This reactor is rated for a 350 mixed reef. I will likely
be a doing a mostly lps / sps / clams system.
My fear is that this reactor will have trouble keeping up.
So my question to any 618 owners, or those with intel on the
subject, is there any way to "boost" it's capacity? I would like to use
it if I can obviously. To add to the conversation I also have supply
of parts to make a decent size second chamber ( I was going to make
a DIY kalk reactor.... still might). I read about upgrading the stock
pump to a larger size to increase it's rating. Wondering if that works.
Or any other solutions that might help. Just looking to use what I have, if i can, to make a system that will not need to be upgraded later. Thoughts?
