What is the best way to clean glass with salt stains, grime, and residue like so?

+1 to vinegar.....stay away from petroleum based cleaners (especially on acrylic pieces)

Just white vinegar? Do you dilute it or just use it straight.
Thanks I just got this tank off Craigslist as well it's in perfect shape. I just have to clean the two areas with residue.

Straight vinegar will dissolve the deposits quickest, but you can dilute it with 2 parts water, 1 part vinegar if you want.

Yes to the vinegar... just got all of my tanks and equipment cleaned up and looking pretty good with just straight vinegar and a rag. I use a scotch brite pad on the equipment (pumps, etc) to help with the tougher deposits, but it was pretty easy.

Oh and if you have any cuts on your hands or fingers, prepare to BURN when using the vinegar... :eek1:
